New Beginnings

The watch was introduced at Baselworld 2013.
It is the first Rolex GMT model to feature a bezel that is at once both black and blue.

A Patented Process

The bezel is made of a single piece of ceramic that starts out blue, and while still porous, sees the addition of black coloring. It is a process that has been patented by Rolex.

The Nickname

Rolex collectors have affectionately nicknamed it as “The Batman” since it is silver, black and blue like Batman’s uniform.

The Trophy Timepiece

In January 2017, tennis great Roger Federer raised his 5th Australian Open trophy wearing a Rolex Batman, a classic that perfectly suited the occasion (and the bright blue tennis courts of Melbourne Park).

Talking Watches with John Mayer

The BLNR was prominently featured on the first, and to date the most-watched episode of Hodinkee’s Talking Watches with singer, guitarist and watch collector John Mayer.

Mayer described the GMT movement as Rolex’s best movement and stated that the Batman is the best contemporary watch that Rolex makes.

The Comedy Connection

The watch was featured on an episode of Talking Watches with comedy writer Spike Feresten. He described it in the following way:

“I use this watch a lot. It’s such a great watch, because you can just wear it all the time, and not really worry about it.”

Steve Carell and Batman

The Batman seems to be a favourite of actor Steve Carell. He was spotted wearing it during his guest appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
And here he is wearing the same watch while meeting a fan.

Home Run

Another proud owner of the Rolex GMT-Master II BLNR is professional baseball player and well-documented watch geek Howard Kendrick, who has featured the watch on his Instagram feed.
